What You'll Do10

  • 1Conduct pre-shift safety inspections and maintenance checks on excavators and attachments, reporting any issues to the shop.
  • 2Start engines, operate throttles, switches, levers, and pedals to control machine movement and bucket functions.
  • 3Signal truck drivers to position vehicles for efficient loading and unloading of dirt, rock, and other materials.
  • 4Navigate around utility lines, obstructions, and falling objects by reading the site and adjusting operations.
  • 5Perform routine lubrication and greasing of equipment, making minor adjustments to ensure peak performance.
  • 6Follow the company safety manual and OSHA standards, wearing PPE and maintaining a clean work area.
  • 7Excavate trenches, structures, and mass excavations to precise grade and slope using laser or GPS guidance.
  • 8Collaborate with crew members and superintendents to meet project deadlines and adjust to changing site conditions.
  • 9Document daily equipment logs and maintenance records to support fleet reliability.

Requirements8

  • 12+ years of related excavator operation experience or equivalent combination of education and training.
  • 2Ability to sit, stand, bend, climb, and work in confined spaces and at heights for extended periods.
  • 3Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physical tasks in rain, snow, heat, or other weather.
  • 4Knowledge of safety protocols for heavy equipment operation, including utility line avoidance and slope stability.
  • 5Valid driver's license with a clean record for operating company vehicles to and from job sites.
  • 6Experience with GPS or laser grading systems is a plus but not required.
  • 7Willingness to work overtime and weekends during peak construction seasons.
  • 8Ability to read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and job specifications.
