Event Production Specialist, On-Call Events
Overview
As an Event Production Specialist, you own the flawless execution of birthday parties and internal and external events at The New Children's Museum. You'll set up, run, and break down events for up to 200 guests, ensuring every family leaves with a memorable experience. You'll join a collaborative Events team that works across Operations, Visitor Engagement, Education, and Exhibitions departments to deliver creative, interactive art experiences. This on-call role demands weekend availability and a knack for staying calm under pressure, and it offers a unique chance to work in a dynamic, art-filled environment.
What You'll Do10
- 1Set up and clean party rooms and supply spaces for birthday parties, ensuring every detail meets Museum standards.
- 2Greet party host families and guests, assist with decorations, and keep the party schedule on track.
- 3Lead the Dance Party activity, guiding Freeze Dance and Floor Lava to keep kids engaged and active.
- 4Provide consistent, positive customer service to guests and Museum staff, maintaining a professional appearance per uniform policy.
- 5Coordinate with Security and Janitorial teams to address safety issues and unexpected cleanup needs during events.
- 6Communicate supply needs and post-event feedback to the Birthday Coordinator to ensure accurate client follow-up.
- 7Work with the Events Team to set up event areas for internal and external events, including moving art installations and equipment.
- 8Assist with client and vendor load-in and out, safely handling tables, chairs, stanchions, signage, and sound equipment.
- 9Maintain knowledge of current installations and artwork to help guests engage with exhibits during after-hours events.
- 10Document post-event feedback for the Event Services Lead to drive continuous improvement and client satisfaction.
Requirements8
- 12+ years of customer service work experience in a fast-paced, people-facing role.
- 2Availability to commit to an on-call schedule with a minimum of 2 shifts per month.
- 3Positive attitude and team player with an outgoing, friendly manner and solid communication skills.
- 4Fluency in English is required; bilingual skills a plus.
- 5Must pass a Federal Background Livescan.
- 6Physical ability to stand, walk, and move throughout museum spaces for extended periods during event setup and breakdown.
- 7Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds, including tables, chairs, and equipment.
- 8Willingness to work weekends and occasional evenings, with a flexible, inconsistent schedule.
