Environmental Stream Scientist
Overview
Lead surface water collection and documentation for quality quantity and subsidence information. Report to Stream Supervisor. This position owns stream delineations and wetland delineations.
What You'll Do11
- 1Operate company vehicles from various job sites and conduct daily vehicle inspections
- 2Proper documentation of field sampling and inspection results through written log and QA/QC forms and checks
- 3Communicate water quality sampling and scheduling problems to supervisor in oral and written forms
- 4Conduct stream delineations and wetland delineations
- 5Perform benthic collection and longitudinal stream profiling
- 6Data analysis and rapid bio assessment
- 7Mitigate oversight and respect landowners property never to harm or damage
- 8Respect landowners property never to harm or damage
- 9Maintain satisfactory safety record and wear personal protective equipment
- 10Pass post offer drug test and background check
- 11Work independently or as part of a team
Requirements22
- 1At least 18 years old
- 2High School Diploma or GED preferred bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences
- 3Reliable transportation and regular punctual attendance
- 4Knowledge to troubleshoot monitoring and sampling equipment
- 5Ability to understand and use permit maps for sampling sites
- 6Understand stream monitoring protocol
- 7Demonstrate initiative to follow through and meet objectives
- 8Familiar with monitoring area and observant of changes
- 9Possess skills to accurately complete field reporting and pictorial documentation
- 10Possess initiative to follow through and meet objectives
- 11Wear PPE required
- 12Pass post offer drug test and background check
- 13Ability to work without sponsorship
- 14Work overtime weekends and holidays subject to religious practices
- 15Work rotating shifts subject to religious practices
- 16Traverse uneven rocky wet slippery muddy terrain including frozen icy surfaces
- 17Climb hillsides wooded areas and embankment side slopes
- 18Carry sampling equipment using mechanical brushing clearing devices
- 19Lift floor-to-waist and waist-to-overhead
- 20Push/pull as needed
- 21Standing bending step climbing crawling working overhead
- 22Heavy labor and lift 50+ pounds as needed
