Electrical Design Engineer - FPGA & PCB Design
Overview
KLA seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to own FPGA and PCB design for the Surfscan platform, supporting semiconductor process control for global chipmakers. You will define electrical subsystem requirements and drive high-speed digital hardware from concept to production. Collaborate with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to integrate and validate designs across multiple product generations. This role offers exposure to Xilinx and Intel FPGAs, OrCAD, and Vivado in a company investing 15% of sales into R&D.
What You'll Do9
- 1Define electrical subsystem requirements and interfaces for the Surfscan platform.
- 2Design and prototype analog and digital circuits, capturing schematics and directing PCB layout.
- 3Implement high-speed FPGA designs using Verilog/VHDL for data acquisition and processing.
- 4Develop test fixtures, procedures, and scripts for PCB prototype and FPGA validation.
- 5Run circuit, signal integrity, timing, thermal, and power simulations with SPICE and HyperLynx.
- 6Participate in PCB and FPGA design reviews, providing feedback to improve quality.
- 7Integrate and debug at bench, subsystem, and system levels to resolve hardware issues.
- 8Generate design documentation and release packages for manufacturing following DFX.
- 9Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product integration.
Requirements9
- 13+ years with BSEE or 2+ years with MSEE in electrical engineering.
- 2Strong foundation in analog and mixed-signal electronics design.
- 3Experience with PCB design and high-speed digital hardware.
- 4FPGA development with Xilinx or Intel platforms, including Verilog/VHDL.
- 5Solid understanding of FPGA-to-PCB interface design and timing closure.
- 6Hands-on experience with hardware and firmware integration and debugging.
- 7Familiarity with OrCAD, Vivado/ISE, Quartus, ModelSim, Python, MATLAB.
- 8Analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex systems.
- 9Excellent communication and teamwork in a multidisciplinary environment.
