Dog Trainer, Positive Reinforcement & Pet Health
Overview
You will own dog training at a Petco Pet Care Center in Brooklyn, NY, delivering positive reinforcement methods to help pet parents raise well-behaved dogs. You will lead one-on-one sessions, group classes, and customized training plans, while also offering 360-degree solutions for nutrition and supplies. Collaborating with grooming and veterinary teams, you will ensure whole health for every pet. This role includes completing Petco's Dog Training Instructor Program and growing the training business with local marketing support.
What You'll Do8
- 1Complete Petco's 6-week Dog Training Instructor Program and pass all assessments.
- 2Deliver one-on-one training and group classes using positive reinforcement techniques.
- 3Recommend and sell training classes, supplies, and services to meet pet parent needs.
- 4Keep detailed records of training sessions, progress, and feedback.
- 5Collaborate with grooming and veterinary teams to provide holistic health solutions.
- 6Engage with guests to recommend merchandise and services, enhancing their shopping experience.
- 7Maintain store standards by stocking, pricing, and displaying merchandise.
- 8Process cash register transactions and support OMNI shopping as needed.

- 1Passion for animal care and training, with a genuine interest in improving pets' lives.
- 2Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to instruct and demonstrate clearly.
- 3Demonstrated ability to handle dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds safely.
- 4Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- 5Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
- 6Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- 7Familiarity with computer systems for managing training records and schedules.
