Dispatcher Courier Services Ref Lab
Overview
Dispatcher coordinates schedules and activities of couriers, multi-route drivers, and hospital messengers. This role involves managing client requests for will call service and communicating with logistics staff. Effective communication with clients to record STAT testing and patient information is required. Timely dispatching of STAT calls to third-party vendors and sorting distribution of Cytology and Pathology reports are essential. Dispatchers control company assets and resolve pickup problems. Evening dispatchers handle nightly closing and backup on dispatch programs.
What You'll Do4
- 1Communicate with internal and external customers couriers hospital messengers and third-party vendors via radio telephone and computer. Record and dispatch all pickup and delivery requests locally and statewide. Enter pickup and delivery information into dispatch system including test type patient name and client information. Update dispatch system database and route information.
- 2Respond to questions and resolve service issues such as complaints missed pickups missing supplies and late STAT pickups.
- 3Sort distribute test results test updates interoffice mail and supplies. Order courier supplies and maintain courier room. Control company assets vehicle keys radios and mobile data devices.
- 4Collect organize information for special reports and projects. Print and reconcile daily will call logs.

- 1Ability to communicate effectively through reading writing and speaking in person or on telephone.
- 2Knowledge of and ability to operate a personal computer.
- 3Extensive sitting with periodic standing and walking.
- 4Routine use of personal computer and general office equipment.
- 5Adequate visual acuity ability to grasp and handle objects and effective communication skills.
