Director of Safety & Risk Management, Agribusiness
Overview
You will lead and strengthen company-wide safety and risk management programs across CPC Commodities' multi-site agribusiness operations, protecting employees and reducing workplace risk. Reporting to senior leadership, you will collaborate with operations, HR, and Regulatory & Quality Assurance to build a consistent safety culture. This role suits a hands-on leader who spends time in the field, translating regulatory requirements into practical, sustainable practices. You will own the full safety, OSHA compliance, workers' comp, commercial insurance, and fleet safety portfolio, driving measurable reductions in incidents and losses.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead development and continuous improvement of company-wide safety programs, establishing consistent standards across facilities and job sites.
- 2Conduct safety audits, facility inspections, job hazard assessments, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
- 3Investigate workplace accidents and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are completed.
- 4Monitor safety metrics and KPIs, providing regular reporting to leadership on trends and prevention progress.
- 5Maintain OSHA compliance, including recordkeeping and reporting, and serve as primary contact for OSHA inspections.
- 6Administer workers' compensation program, coordinating claims with carriers and medical providers to reduce frequency and severity.
- 7Lead return-to-work program, developing modified-duty opportunities and partnering with operations on accommodations.
- 8Support commercial insurance renewals and loss-prevention initiatives with brokers and carriers.
- 9Oversee fleet and driver safety, ensuring DOT/FMCSA compliance and driver qualification file management.
- 10Develop and deliver safety training, including orientation, and coach managers on safety responsibilities.
Requirements9
- 15+ years progressive leadership in workplace safety and risk management, preferably in agriculture, manufacturing, or multi-location operations.
- 2Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
- 3Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety requirements.
- 4Experience with workers' compensation claims management and return-to-work programs.
- 5Experience with commercial insurance, loss control, and organizational risk management preferred.
- 6Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA requirements and fleet safety programs preferred.
- 7Strong investigation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- 8Excellent communication and influencing skills across all employee levels.
- 9Willingness to travel regularly to company facilities and job sites.
