Director Facilities Management, Hospital Operations
Overview
You will own facility operations, safety, and capital planning for Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital, a full-service acute care facility. You will lead a team of maintenance, engineering, and safety staff, ensuring regulatory compliance and cost-effective delivery of services. Reporting to senior leadership, you will shape long-term facility strategy, including renovations and infrastructure upgrades. What You'll Do9
- 1Lead facility operations, including building maintenance, central plant, and grounds, ensuring uptime and safety.
- 2Develop and execute capital and operational budgets, tracking costs and optimizing resource allocation.
- 3Drive compliance with Joint Commission, NFPA, and local codes, preparing for surveys and audits.
- 4Build and mentor a team of managers and staff, fostering engagement and professional growth.
- 5Plan and oversee renovation and construction projects, from design to handover, using BIM and CAD.
- 6Implement preventive maintenance programs using CMMS to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
- 7Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to align facility services with patient care needs.
- 8Negotiate contracts with vendors and contractors, ensuring quality and value.
- 9Analyze performance metrics and industry benchmarks to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements9
- 18+ years in facilities management, with 2+ years in a leadership role, preferably in healthcare.
- 2Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 3CHFM certification or ability to obtain within one year.
- 4Deep knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems.
- 5Proven budget management skills, including capital planning and cost control.
- 6Experience with lean or Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement.
- 7Strong regulatory compliance background with OSHA, CMS, and DNV standards.
- 8Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- 9Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMMS software.
