Registered Dental Hygienist specializing in critical care provides essential oral healthcare services and patient education within trauma medical and cardiovascular intensive care units. You will deliver direct care to intubated critically ill patients while adhering to the Bedside Oral Care protocol. What You'll Do10
- 1Perform dental cleanings and preventative treatments for ICU patients
- 2Conduct oral health assessments and implement treatment plans
- 3Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and disease prevention
- 4Execute bedside oral exams and apply oral moisturizers
- 5Utilize specific oral hygiene aids as outlined in protocols
- 6Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
- 7Maintain accurate documentation of oral care procedures
- 8Train staff on bedside oral care policies
- 9Develop and deliver educational presentations to diverse audiences
- 10Follow established oral care guidelines for ventilator-associated pneumonia prevention
Requirements9
- 1Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program
- 2One year of clinical dental hygiene experience
- 3Strong verbal and written communication skills
- 4Two years of clinical dental hygiene experience
- 5Previous hospital-based inpatient experience
- 6Familiarity with Barrow Oral Care Protocol
- 7Basic Life Support certification
- 8Experience with bedside oral exam procedures
- 9Knowledge of AZ American Heart Association CPR standards
