Dental Assistant, Chairside & Patient Care
Overview
You will own chairside assistance across operative, preventive, periodontal, endodontic, prosthetic, and oral surgery procedures at a network of 17 centers and mobile units. You will support dentists, residents, and students while maintaining strict infection control protocols and delivering a welcoming patient experience. Your role directly impacts access to essential care for underserved communities in Tampa, Florida. This position offers a structured schedule, 15 days of paid time off, and a supportive, team-based culture.
What You'll Do8
- 1Provide chairside assistance to dentists and residents during a wide range of procedures including operative, preventive, periodontal, endodontic, prosthetic, and oral surgery.
- 2Maintain a clean and sterile clinical environment by following infection control protocols and preparing, disinfecting, and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
- 3Perform expanded duties such as fabricating temporary crowns and bridges, applying sealants and fluoride, taking impressions, coronal polishing, and capturing diagnostic radiographs.
- 4Explain procedures and assist with treatment plan discussions to ensure patients and families feel informed and comfortable.
- 5Coordinate patient appointments and manage scheduling to support treatment plans and smooth patient flow.
- 6Document patient care accurately in EHR systems, ensuring completion of forms and consent documentation.
- 7Collaborate with dental providers, hygienists, and administrative staff to support seamless care delivery and step in for front office tasks as needed.
- 8Participate in monthly inventory processes and manage dental supplies to keep clinics fully equipped.
Requirements7
- 1Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant Program.
- 21+ years of experience as a Dental Assistant, preferred.
- 3Proficiency in radiography and infection control protocols.
- 4Ability to perform expanded functions like fabricating temporary crowns and applying sealants.
- 5Strong organizational and documentation skills with EHR systems.
- 6Commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork.
- 7Willingness to undergo Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
