Data/Snowflake Architect, NYC Onsite
Overview
You will architect and oversee Snowflake and Postgres distributed database deployments for the Assurance & Legal Technology department in NYC. You will own the platform architecture end-to-end, including data sourcing, sanitization, and curation into a gold data source. You will lead performance tuning, schema design, and data modeling across Snowflake, Postgres, and ETL pipelines. This role demands in-person collaboration 3 days a week, with an in-person interview required. You will define the data strategy that powers advanced analytics for legal and assurance workflows. This is a 12-month engagement with direct impact on high-stakes data quality.
What You'll Do9
- 1Design and implement Snowflake and Postgres database architectures to support distributed data platforms.
- 2Develop and enforce data modeling standards, including Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, and Data Vault methodologies.
- 3Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using dbt, Airflow, and Python to source, sanitize, and curate datasets.
- 4Own performance tuning of queries, warehouses, and storage layers to meet 99.9% uptime SLAs.
- 5Drive data governance and security policies, including RBAC, column-level security, and masking in Snowflake.
- 6Collaborate with legal and assurance teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
- 7Lead the migration of legacy Oracle and SQL Server workloads to Snowflake without data loss.
- 8Establish monitoring and alerting for data quality, using Great Expectations and Snowflake tasks.
- 9Document architecture decisions and present them to stakeholders for approval.
Requirements9
- 17+ years in data architecture or engineering, with 3+ years specifically on Snowflake.
- 25+ years with Postgres including partitioning, replication, and performance tuning.
- 32+ years architecting Snowflake solutions with micro-partitions, clustering keys, and auto-suspend.
- 43+ years with ETL/ELT tools such as dbt, Airflow, or Matillion.
- 52+ years with Python or Java for data processing scripts.
- 61+ year with Data Vault 2.0 modeling and AWS S3 or Azure Blob integration.
- 7Hands-on with Snowpipe, Streams, and Tasks for real-time ingestion.
- 8Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
- 9Must be willing to work 3 days onsite in NYC and pass an in-person interview.
