Overview
As a Data Scientist on Point72's Market Intelligence team, you will own end-to-end research on large unstructured alternative datasets, applying machine learning and statistical modeling to guide investment decisions at a top global hedge fund. You'll partner with investment professionals, Compliance, and a cross-functional team of researchers and engineers to build compliant research products. What You'll Do8
- 1Build and refine predictive models on large unstructured data using Python, Spark, and SQL to uncover investment insights.
- 2Own the full research lifecycle: select methodologies, collect and validate data, run analyses, and monitor model performance.
- 3Deliver clear, actionable findings to investment teams and portfolio managers, translating complex statistical results into investment decisions.
- 4Drive technical innovation through collaborative R&D, experimenting with new data sources and modeling techniques.
- 5Partner with compliance to ensure all research adheres to the highest ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
- 6Stay current on alternative data market trends and evaluate new data vendors for potential value.
- 7Conduct ad-hoc analyses to answer pressing business questions, quickly switching between projects as needs evolve.
- 8Document and share research processes and results to promote team learning and reproducibility.
Requirements8
- 11+ year of professional experience in a quantitative role, with a Masters or PhD in a quantitative discipline.
- 2Demonstrated expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data mining tools.
- 3Strong programming skills in Python (preferred), R, Spark, and SQL.
- 4Exceptional understanding of advanced statistics and modeling techniques, including regression, classification, clustering, and time series.
- 5Ability to communicate complex analyses and results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 6Excellent attention to detail, organization, and project management skills.
- 7Strong business intuition and a solution-oriented, methodological approach to problem solving.
- 8Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build relationships across business units within a firm.
