Custodial Maintenance Worker, Healthcare Facility
Overview
You will own sanitation and infection control across patient rooms, discharge rooms, and public areas at a modern healthcare facility in Austin, TX. You will join a supportive environmental services team that reports to facilities leadership and coordinates with clinical staff. You will keep high-touch surfaces disinfected and supplies stocked. This contract-to-hire role offers 1+ year of housekeeping experience, stable 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM or 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM shifts, and a path to full-time benefits.
What You'll Do8
- 1Clean and sanitize patient rooms, discharge rooms, and public areas using EPA-registered disinfectants
- 2Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect high-touch surfaces like bed rails, doorknobs, and light switches
- 3Remove trash and replenish supplies including linens, soap, and paper products
- 4Follow hospital sanitation and infection control standards, including OSHA bloodborne pathogen protocols
- 5Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for patients, visitors, and staff
- 6Operate floor care equipment such as autoscrubbers and buffers for large common areas
- 7Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the facilities supervisor
- 8Complete daily checklists and document cleaning tasks in the CMMS system
Requirements7
- 11+ year of housekeeping, janitorial, or environmental services experience
- 2Hospital or hotel cleaning experience preferred
- 3Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs and remain active throughout the shift
- 4Comfortable working in a healthcare environment with exposure to pathogens
- 5Reliable and able to work rotating weekends, including 2nd shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM) or 3rd shift (10:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
- 6Knowledge of proper use of PPE and disinfectants
- 7High school diploma or equivalent preferred
