Cortex AI Senior Software Engineer - FDE
Overview
Lead the design and ownership of backend infrastructure for AI-powered enterprise data solutions. You will architect agentic runtimes, scale context engineering systems, build evaluation engines, and produce optimized AI workflows. This role defines the foundation for Snowflake Intelligence and Cortex Agents.
What You'll Do5
- 1Architect Agentic Runtimes: Build and scale orchestration engines for complex workflows with low latency and robust state management
- 2Scale Context Engineering Infra: Design RAG systems with vector databases, search indexing, and semantic caching
- 3Develop Evals Engine: Create infrastructure for large-scale simulation and experimentation pipelines
- 4Productionize AI Workflows: Transform LLM capabilities into hardened microservices with guardrails and observability
- 5Optimize Performance & Cost: Strategize model routing and token optimization for industry-leading efficiency
Requirements11
- 1Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 27+ years building distributed systems or backend infrastructure for AI/ML products
- 3Deep proficiency in Go or Java for systems and Python for AI orchestration
- 4Strong understanding of database internals and cloud-native architecture
- 5Experience with Kubernetes and foundationalDB
- 6Domain expertise in vector indices and agent platforms
- 7Proven ability to explain technical failures to non-technical audiences
- 8Cross-layer debugging skills across unfamiliar codebases
- 9Familiarity with eval frameworks for LLM systems
- 10Comfort with ambiguity in open-ended problems
- 11Bonus: Query optimization and SQL engine internals
