Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to prepare food according to federal state and local standards while ensuring quality service at Gardens of Westbrooke. Delegated administrative authority allows you to manage operations responsibly. This role involves leading kitchen staff and collaborating with department leaders to maintain high standards.
What You'll Do11
- 1Review menus prior to preparation and inspect special diet trays to ensure correct meals are served
- 2Perform administrative tasks complete forms and submit reports to the Director of Food Services
- 3Coordinate food service with other departments and consult with the facility dietician
- 4Assist in standardizing work methods and establish efficient production lines
- 5Process diet changes promptly and maintain accurate records
- 6Develop rapport with inter-department personnel and create a positive work environment
- 7Report occupational accidents and suspicious incidents following facility policies
- 8Participate in mandatory training programs including HazCom and blood-borne pathogen education
- 9Prepare meals according to standardized recipes and therapeutic diet orders
- 10Ensure all food meets sanitation and safety regulations
- 11Maintain clean work areas and report hazards immediately
Requirements9
- 1Minimum 8th grade education with eligible ACHA background screening
- 2One year supervisory or cooking experience in healthcare settings preferred
- 3Ability to read write and communicate effectively in English
- 4Leadership skills and ability to make independent decisions
- 5Strong knowledge of food procedures and sanitation protocols
- 6Patience tact and cheerful disposition
- 7Physical capability to lift 35 lbs to 5 feet and move 450 feet
- 8Ability to taste and smell food for quality assessment
- 9Willingness to adapt to new methods and handle diverse resident needs
