Cook for Skilled Nursing Facility
Overview
You will prepare high-quality, nutritious meals for residents in a skilled nursing facility, serving up to 200 meals per shift. You will own the kitchen during the Chef's absence, supervising culinary staff and ensuring all food meets dietary restrictions and sanitation standards. You will work with ServSafe protocols and standardized recipes from Registered Dietitians. This role offers Medical, dental, and vision insurance and 401K with matching funds.
What You'll Do10
- 1Prepare meals following standardized recipes and menu cycles from Registered Dietitians to meet resident dietary needs.
- 2Supervise culinary staff in the absence of the Chef or Certified Dietary Manager, directing food storage, preparation, and tray assembly.
- 3Operate institutional food preparation equipment safely and maintain cleaning and preventative maintenance schedules.
- 4Inspect trays after meal service to monitor resident acceptance and report findings to the Certified Dietary Manager.
- 5Handle, store, and dispose of raw and prepared foods according to facility procedures and state and federal regulations.
- 6Clean workspaces, cooking, and serving equipment to maintain a sanitary environment and report equipment problems promptly.
- 7Communicate with supervisors throughout shifts to maximize resident satisfaction and address food preferences.
- 8Assist the Culinary Manager with state inspection preparation and attend survey training as instructed.
- 9Maintain a supply of food alternates to accommodate resident choices and refusals.
- 10Adhere to ServSafe guidelines and infection control practices to ensure food safety.
Requirements7
- 11 year experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred.
- 2ServSafe certification required within 90 days of employment.
- 3Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and infection control practices.
- 4Ability to read and follow recipes, menus, and diet orders.
- 5Computer skills for record keeping and communication.
- 6Meet all state and federal criminal background check requirements.
- 7High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
