Cook for Senior Living Community
Overview
As a Cook at Shannondell at Valley Forge, you will own the preparation of all hot and cold meals for residents, following HACCP standards. You will serve on the resident tray line, ensure proper plate presentation, and support special diets. Working with a team of cooks and the Food Production Manager, you will maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, test food by taste, temperature, and smell, and plate for room service and dining rooms. What You'll Do9
- 1Prepare all hot and cold items according to recipe specifications and HACCP procedures.
- 2Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, following established sanitation procedures.
- 3Assist other cooks and the production manager with food preparation for all meals.
- 4Implement texture modifications for special diets, ensuring resident safety.
- 5Test cooked food by taste, temperature, and smell for quality and safety.
- 6Plate food for room service and dining rooms, following presentation and portioning guidelines.
- 7Prepare and garnish daily specials, setting up service lines with appropriate pan sizes.
- 8Support resident service areas on ovens and hot boxes as needed.
- 9Begin next day's food production and delegate duties to utility staff as required.
Requirements10
- 1Less than high school education or up to one month related experience or training.
- 2Ability to read and follow simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- 3Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- 4Apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- 5Read, write, and understand recipes and recipe conversions.
- 6Stand, walk, use hands, talk, hear, reach, and bend for long periods.
- 7Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- 8Close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- 9Exposure to heat, steam, and damp floors; noise level from moderate to loud.
- 10Strong positive attitude toward customer service and genuine interest in geriatric care.
