What You'll Do8
- 1Prepare meals that match menus and meet resident nutritional needs, following ServeSafe standards.
- 2Cook and plate attractive, palatable, nutritionally adequate food in the quantities needed for each meal service.
- 3Lead kitchen staff in food preparation, tray assembly, cleaning, and storage of supplies and equipment.
- 4Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout food prep and service, sanitizing stations as you go.
- 5Handle, store, and dispose of food supplies per departmental procedures, complying with Indiana health codes.
- 6Coordinate with dietary managers to adjust recipes for texture modifications and allergy restrictions.
- 7Train new kitchen team members on portion control and food safety protocols, reducing waste and contamination risk.
- 8Monitor food temperatures during cooking and holding, recording logs to meet FDA guidelines.
Requirements8
- 1High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 years related experience or equivalent combination.
- 2Certification in Sanitation/Safe Food Handling preferred; can earn ServeSafe while employed.
- 3Prior institutional or healthcare food service experience preferred.
- 4Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
- 5Flexibility to work day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as scheduled.
- 6Basic math skills for recipe scaling and inventory counts.
- 7Follow written and verbal instructions in English, with clear communication for team coordination.
