Construction Project Engineer Seattle
Overview
The Construction Project Engineer leads full lifecycle commercial construction projects from preconstruction to closeout. This role partners with project managers field teams and subcontractors to deliver safe on schedule projects within budget. Responsibilities include supporting field operations coordinating subcontractors managing RFIs and maintaining documentation. The ideal candidate seeks to grow expertise in estimating and project controls.
What You'll Do11
- 1Support day-to-day field operations and coordinate activities of subcontractors and trades to keep work progressing safely and efficiently
- 2Track and manage RFIs submittals and change orders ensuring timely responses and accurate documentation
- 3Perform regular site walks inspections and quality checks to verify work aligns with project specifications and drawings
- 4Assist with developing updating and maintaining project schedules tracking milestones and critical path activities
- 5Prepare organize and maintain project documentation and reporting including daily reports and document control logs
- 6Coordinate with clients design teams and internal stakeholders to clarify scope resolve issues and maintain clear communication
- 7Ensure field work complies with project specifications construction drawings and safety standards
- 8Assist with project closeout activities including punch list creation and completion and preparation of turnover documentation
- 9Support field coordination with subcontractors and trades helping resolve conflicts and sequencing issues
- 10Contribute to project coordination across 2–3 active projects including health facilities industrial offices and office space projects
- 11Collaborate with project leadership to identify potential risks issues and opportunities for improvement
Requirements11
- 1Minimum 2 years of experience as a Project Engineer working on commercial construction projects
- 2Experience working on industrial automotive and/or higher education construction projects
- 3Proven experience with field coordination of subcontractors and trades on active construction sites
- 4Hands-on experience managing RFIs submittals document control change orders and daily reporting
- 5Bachelor's degree in construction management engineering or related field
- 6Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously supporting 2–3 projects at a time
- 7Strong communication skills with field teams subcontractors and clients both verbally and in writing
- 8Willingness to travel approximately one week every 2–3 weeks
- 9Experience working with general contractors subcontractor management and project coordination
- 10Solid understanding of commercial construction practices including renovation additions and ground-up projects
- 11Problem-solving mindset and ability to adapt in dynamic field conditions
