Overview
Hermeus seeks a Components Manufacturing Engineer to establish and scale advanced manufacturing processes for critical hardware. This role drives design-for-manufacture and process development across precision mechanical systems while operating autonomously in a fast-paced environment. The position involves leading first-article builds and collaborating with cross-functional teams to define world-class manufacturing standards.
What You'll Do11
- 1Develop and own end-to-end manufacturing processes for complex mechanical and precision components
- 2Drive design for manufacturability by collaborating with design engineers from concept through release
- 3Define and optimize process parameters for laser welding machining assembly and inspection
- 4Lead first-article builds troubleshoot non-conformances and implement corrective actions
- 5Own planning scheduling and shop operations for the sheet metal facility
- 6Design and procure production tooling fixtures and test equipment to improve quality
- 7Support technicians by troubleshooting issues and resolving non-conformances
- 8Establish and maintain process documentation including manufacturing plans work instructions and control plans
- 9Collaborate with quality supply chain and test teams to ensure component reliability
- 10Develop data-driven approaches for process control capability analysis and yield improvement
- 11Serve as technical authority mentoring technicians and shaping future manufacturing capabilities
Requirements11
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Materials Science or related field
- 23+ years hands-on experience in precision component manufacturing aerospace defense or high-performance hardware
- 3Experience with CNC machining welding TIG laser e-beam or additive manufacturing of complex metallic parts
- 4Proven ability to develop validate and scale new manufacturing processes from concept to production
- 5Strong understanding of GD&T tolerance stack-ups and material behavior under manufacturing processes
- 6Hands-on experience in lab or production focusing on process development fixture design or failure analysis
- 7Advanced welding methods experience laser e-beam resistance or friction stir
- 8Knowledge of aerospace-grade materials aluminum titanium Inconel and stainless steel
- 9Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles SPC and Lean manufacturing practices
- 10Experience transitioning R&D hardware into low-rate or full-rate production
- 11Strong CAD/CAM proficiency NX CATIA SolidWorks or Fusion 360
