What You'll Do8

  • 1Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate comic book creation sessions at partner schools, focusing on storytelling, character design, and sequential art.
  • 2Guide students in developing original characters, storylines, and scripts, culminating in completed comic book projects.
  • 3Adapt instruction to diverse student experience levels, artistic abilities, and available materials, ensuring all content is age-appropriate and educational.
  • 4Encourage creativity, collaboration, and constructive feedback, helping students build artistic confidence and communication skills.
  • 5Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment, following school policies and site procedures.
  • 6Communicate assignment needs and concerns with Concorde Education and school staff, and complete a session completion form after each scheduled session.
  • 7Exercise professional judgment in selecting instructional materials, ensuring compliance with copyright laws and school policies.
  • 8Use traditional or digital art tools, such as Procreate, Photoshop, or Clip Studio Paint, when available, to enhance instruction.

Requirements8

  • 160+ college credits, where required by the assignment or site.
  • 2Experience in illustration, comic creation, graphic storytelling, visual arts, or animation.
  • 3Experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, or mentoring school-age students.
  • 4Strong communication, organization, and classroom facilitation skills.
  • 5Availability to teach after school, typically 1-4 hours per week, for the assignment duration.
  • 6Familiarity with traditional and/or digital art tools, such as Procreate, Photoshop, or Clip Studio Paint.
  • 7Ability to adapt lesson plans to different grade levels and student needs.
