Civil Site Loader Operator, Heavy Construction
Overview
You will operate wheel loaders on heavy civil projects across Tampa, moving materials, supporting underground utility crews, and maintaining production in active site conditions. You'll join a crew of 2 loaders, working alongside excavators, dozers, and dump trucks on grading and site development. This role demands 3+ years of loader experience and daily focus on safety around utilities and open trenches. Tradeco values skilled operators who take pride in safe, productive work on every shift.
What You'll Do8
- 1Operate wheel loaders (CAT 926-980, John Deere, Komatsu, Volvo) to move dirt, aggregate, and debris.
- 2Load haul trucks and manage stockpile areas to keep material flow steady.
- 3Support underground utility crews with trench spoils, backfill, and grading tasks.
- 4Feed crushers, screeners, pugmills, or batch plants when needed.
- 5Read grade stakes and check elevations to match site layout.
- 6Perform daily equipment inspections, greasing, and minor maintenance.
- 7Report mechanical or safety issues to supervisors immediately.
- 8Assist labor crews with manual tasks when equipment is idle.
Requirements10
- 13+ years of wheel loader experience in heavy civil construction.
- 2Experience working around underground utilities and open excavations.
- 3Solid understanding of grading, trenching, and site development.
- 4Knowledge of trench safety and construction safety practices.
- 5Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb on/off equipment, and work outdoors year-round.
- 6Reliable transportation and strong work ethic.
- 7Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- 8OSHA 10 certification preferred (assistance available).
- 9GPS grade control experience with Topcon or Trimble preferred.
- 10NCCCO earthmoving certification or CDL are a plus.
