Civil Engineering Expert | $65-$90/hr Remote
Overview
We are assembling a network of licensed civil engineers to help AI systems reason more accurately about civil engineering. You will evaluate AI-generated content, answer technical questions, and provide expert feedback that improves real-world reliability. This is a flexible, fully remote, part-time role (about 10 hours per week) with room to grow. Your professional judgment will directly shape how AI handles structural, geotechnical, transportation, and water resources topics. Work alongside a small group of specialists from other domains to ensure balanced, accurate AI outputs.
What You'll Do5
- 1Assess and score AI-generated responses and written materials for technical accuracy within your specialty.
- 2Respond to domain-specific questions with clear, evidence-based explanations drawn from your field experience.
- 3Recommend useful reference documents, standards, and resources that can help train or refine AI systems.
- 4Provide practical insight into the everyday tools, processes, and standards used by civil engineers.
- 5Participate in collaborative reviews with other subject-matter experts to ensure broad, balanced coverage.
Requirements5
- 1Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the U.S. and a degree in civil engineering.
- 2At least two years of hands-on civil engineering experience, ideally spanning multiple disciplines (structural, geotechnical, transportation, or water resources).
- 3Working knowledge of key codes and standards such as ASCE, IBC, and AASHTO, along with common design software like AutoCAD Civil 3D, STAAD, or Revit.
- 4Comfortable using modern AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) in your daily workflow.
- 5Reliable availability for about 10 hours per week and strong professional English.
Who Should Apply
You are a licensed civil engineer who enjoys translating complex technical knowledge into clear feedback. You're curious about AI and want to help shape its impact on the engineering profession. You can work independently, meet weekly commitments, and communicate concisely in English. Experience writing specs or training material is a bonus, but your real-world judgment is the priority.
Salary Insight
