Actalent seeks a Chemist – Analytical Chemistry professional to lead analytical efforts for medical device product development in Los Angeles. The chemist will own qualitative and quantitative analyses, develop validation methods, and collaborate across cross‑functional teams. This role drives strategic and tactical lab operations while ensuring cGMP compliance and delivering high‑quality data.
What You'll Do11
- 1Perform routine and non‑routine qualitative and quantitative analyses of raw materials in‑process samples and finished products using FTIR ICP‑MS LC‑UV/LC‑MS GC‑FID/MS and related techniques
- 2Develop and improve analytical methods and validate them according to regulatory standards
- 3Support new product development through analytical testing compatibility studies and execution of development plans
- 4Apply deep chemistry knowledge to method development data interpretation and troubleshooting of analytical challenges
- 5Prepare and review technical documents including protocols reports and data sheets for defined analytical parameters
- 6Conduct all work in compliance with cGMP regulatory standards and document variances appropriately
- 7Maintain collaborative relationships with Drug Delivery Systems teams and contribute to multiple concurrent projects
- 8Investigate analytical issues independently identify root causes and propose preventive corrective solutions
- 9Prepare reagents and solutions perform equipment maintenance cleaning sample and standards preparation and housekeeping duties
- 10Outline and implement effective solutions for laboratory investigations and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- 11Analyze complex data apply mathematical concepts to quantitative assessments and produce accurate documentation
Requirements14
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field with strong chemistry focus
- 23–4 years hands‑on experience with analytical chemistry techniques including mass spectrometry
- 3Proven experience developing analytical methods and characterizing materials or products in academic or industry settings
- 4Proficiency with advanced instrumentation such as FTIR LC‑UV/LC‑MS GC‑FID/MS ICP‑MS
- 5Strong background in analytical chemistry and laboratory practice
- 6Ability to interpret complex analytical data and apply relevant mathematics
- 7Experience working in cGMP regulated environments
- 8Familiarity with gas chromatography liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques
- 9Knowledge of safe laboratory practices and proper chemical handling
- 10Background applying analytical methods specifically within drug delivery systems or medical device settings
- 11Experience preparing scientific presentations and contributing to research articles
- 12Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high quality and accuracy
- 13Strong problem‑solving skills to investigate issues and implement preventive solutions
- 14Comfort collaborating within cross‑functional teams and supporting strategic and tactical initiatives
