What You'll Do10
- 1Deliver safe and effective anesthesia care to pediatrics through geriatric populations, utilizing current anesthetic agents, techniques, and equipment.
- 2Administer anesthetics for a wide variety of surgical and non-surgical procedures across multiple settings, including hospitals and ASCs.
- 3Monitor patients throughout anesthesia and recovery, adjusting anesthetic plans as needed based on changing patient status.
- 4Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes, exercising considerable independent decision-making under stress.
- 5Practice independently within the full CRNA scope of privileges, providing anesthesia care that meets the individual needs of each patient.
- 6Complete a four to six week orientation period with a preceptor, demonstrating proficiency in clinical skills and anesthetic management.
- 7Maintain CRNA certification through NBCRNA and meet continuing education requirements, staying current with best practices.

Requirements10
- 1Bachelor's degree in nursing and BSN required, with graduation from an accredited school of nursing and school of nurse anesthesia.
- 2Listed on the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists as a CRNA and recognized by the state of practice as an Advanced Practitioner.
- 3Must meet continuing education per NBCRNA requirements to maintain CRNA certification.
- 4Current RN licensure in the appropriate state required.
- 5BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
- 6CRNA certification by NBCRNA required.
- 7No previous experience necessary; orientation period of 4-6 weeks with preceptor, dependent on experience and clinical skills.
- 8Must have extensive knowledge of current anesthetic agents, techniques, drugs, and equipment.
- 9Ability to modify anesthetic care suitable to patient age, from pediatrics to geriatrics.
