Certified Nurse Aide, Med/Surg Telemetry Nights
Overview
You will own patient care support on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit at AH Mercy in Charlotte, NC, working 36 hours/week on 7p-7a nights. You will report to the Registered Nurse and handle daily living activities, vital signs, EKGs, and venipuncture. The role sits on a fast-paced unit in a health system serving nearly 6 million patients. This is a Full-time position with benefits, including paid time off and retirement plans. You will grow your clinical skills through Nurse Aide I/II tasks and technical training in 12-Lead EKG and phlebotomy.
What You'll Do9
- 1Support patients with activities of daily living like feeding, ambulating, and personal hygiene.
- 2Measure and record vital signs, height, weight, and intake/output.
- 3Perform 12-Lead EKG tests and routine venipuncture after proper training.
- 4Maintain patient rooms in a clean and orderly condition, ensuring safety.
- 5Observe and report changes in patient conditions to the RN.
- 6Orient patients and families to the unit and instruct on safety measures.
- 7Handle clerical tasks such as answering phones, entering data, and maintaining medical records.
- 8Manage inventory by stocking supplies in patient areas.
- 9Follow Nurse Aide I/II task lists as per the state Board of Nursing.
Requirements9
- 1High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2Current listing with the DFS Nurse Aide Registry as a Nurse Aide I or with the applicable state Board of Nursing as a Nurse Aide II.
- 3BLS certification required per policy.
- 4Ability to lift and support 35 pounds in handling patients, equipment, and supplies.
- 5Must speak and understand English clearly.
- 6Manual and finger dexterity required.
- 7Physical abilities testing required.
- 8Knowledge of growth and development principles for the patient population served.
- 9Willingness to limit access to PHI and share on a need-to-know basis.
