Overview

Tutor high school and college students in calculus across northern New Jersey, from precalculus through multivariable calculus. You'll own one-on-one sessions in students' homes or at our Livingston office, matching your travel radius. Build fluency in AP Calculus AB and BC, including limits, derivatives, integrals, and sequences and series. Work closely with a supportive team and Director, with flexibility in hours and a pay range of $40-$50/hour.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Deliver tailored one-on-one tutoring sessions for precalculus through multivariable calculus, adapting to each student's course and goals.
  • 2Plan lessons with problem sets, derivative and integral practice, AP-style FRQs, and calculator drills.
  • 3Build fluency in core concepts: limits, continuity, derivatives, integrals, differential equations, and for BC students, sequences and series and parametric, polar, and vector functions.
  • 4Track student progress and adjust pacing and difficulty to ensure mastery across graphical, numerical, analytical, and verbal representations.
  • 5Submit a short session note after each session and flag concerns to the Director early.
  • 6Communicate clearly and warmly with parents about student progress and strategies.
  • 7Contribute to team practice by sharing what works and asking questions.

Requirements10

  • 1Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education (Applied Mathematics qualifies).
  • 2Demonstrated mastery of single-variable calculus at the AP and college introductory level, with ability to scale to multivariable calculus.
  • 3Tutoring, TA, or classroom teaching experience with high school or college students.
  • 4Working familiarity with current AP Calculus AB and BC course frameworks, including scoring of FRQs and MCQs.
  • 5Strong communication skills and patience to support students who arrive frustrated or anxious.
  • 6Ability to plan individualized sessions and adapt in real time, explaining concepts multiple ways.
  • 7Availability for afternoon, evening, or weekend hours during the school year, with extra capacity in April-May for AP exams and college finals.
  • 8Comfort with educational technology.
  • 9Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license for in-home sessions.
  • 10Preferred: experience tutoring AP Calculus with students scoring 4s and 5s, strength with BC topics, and ability to support college Calculus I, II, and III.
