Overview
The Buyer at Vallen Distribution leads procurement initiatives ensuring high-quality stock and reliable supply. This role focuses on strategic sourcing and vendor management while supporting operational excellence across distribution centers and clients.
What You'll Do11
- 1Execute procurement activities aligned with demand forecasting and purchasing strategies
- 2Review and approve inventory forecasts and replenishment recommendations using GAINS
- 3Assess order actions for expediting or de-expediting based on delivery optimization
- 4Place purchase requisitions and vendor orders to maintain inventory levels
- 5Monitor product quality and timeliness while coordinating returns and replacements
- 6Negotiate vendor returns for aged or excess inventory and manage liquidation activities
- 7Follow up with vendors to guarantee timely deliveries and communicate status updates internally and externally
- 8Resolve vendor issues regarding timeliness and product quality through direct communication
- 9Maintain supplier relationships and handle account payables nonconformance
- 10Utilize ERP systems and inventory management applications including GAINS
- 11Perform calculations and maintain detailed records with strong analytical skills
Requirements6
- 1Bachelor's degree in Business Finance or equivalent experience with 1+ year procurement experience preferred
- 2CPM certification preferred
- 3Strong technical skills in GAINS and Microsoft Office applications
- 4Excellent attention to detail with accurate record keeping abilities
- 5Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- 6Physical demands include prolonged computer use, sitting, occasional standing/walking, and lifting up to 10 lbs
