Buyer, Culinary Center Inventory & Ordering
Overview
You own inventory and ordering for the Culinary Excellence Center, executing daily receiving, replenishment, and product rotation at a central kitchen supporting culinary development and events. You coordinate with the Culinary Purchasing team, manage multiple systems for delivery scheduling, and keep everything organized and compliant with health standards. This contract role in Austin, TX offers hands-on exposure to high-volume food operations and cross-functional collaboration.
What You'll Do10
- 1Replenish products using proper buying procedures and adjust buying plans based on monthly production planning.
- 2Collaborate with the Culinary Purchasing team to source and secure samples of new product developments.
- 3Ensure timely and accurate product orders, processing and organizing all team deliveries.
- 4Monitor product quality and freshness, enforcing proper rotation and sanitation standards.
- 5Use multiple systems to schedule ingredient and product deliveries, coordinating with vendors and stores.
- 6Maintain receiving and product trackers, assist with periodic inventory checks, and support outgoing shipments.
- 7Manage day-to-day operations and maintenance of the GTK building, including security and safety reporting.
- 8Organize and transport recipe items for special events and support culinary development testing needs.
- 9Assist with data organization and ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
- 10Report safety violations and hazards immediately, keeping the working environment clean and organized.
Requirements9
- 12+ years of buying/receiving experience in a food or culinary environment.
- 2Basic food knowledge, including ingredient information, nutrition, and culinary conversions.
- 3Working knowledge of online ordering systems and computer operating systems.
- 4Strong communication skills and the ability to deliver information clearly to team members.
- 5Proficiency in simple math and the ability to follow directions and procedures.
- 6Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently.
- 7Self-motivated and solution-oriented, thriving in a fast-paced setting.
- 8Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and stand for extended periods.
- 9Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
