Brand Creative Writer, Mission-Driven Content & Storytelling
Overview
Brand Creative Content Writer at Second Harvest Heartland will shape brand storytelling and write copy that advances our hunger relief mission at scale. You will partner with the Creative team and Marketing and Communications to translate complex goals into clear, compelling content across digital, print, and email channels. You will identify storytelling opportunities, conduct interviews, and guide content from concept to final edits while upholding an editorial style and accessibility standards. This role offers a chance to influence donor, volunteer, and partner engagement and to grow as a strategic writing partner within a mission-driven organization.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and lead the development of compelling stories for digital, email, and print to support organizational strategy
- 2Design and refine content strategy recommendations and present them to leadership
- 3Lead storytelling opportunities, conduct interviews, and connect with diverse communities to capture authentic narratives
- 4Own the editorial refinement of brand-aligned content and manage the Editorial & Storytelling Style Guide
- 5Ship content and oversee the digital asset management system to maximize accessibility and reuse
- 6Drive regular content audits to improve consistency, accessibility, and strategic alignment
- 7Scale content across channels by translating strategic goals into audience-specific copy
- 8Guide internal teams on ethical, audience-centered storytelling practices
- 9Mentor partners on content best practices and storytelling processes
- 10Oversee content development from concept through final review and implementation to support program work
Requirements10
- 16-10 years of progressive experience in content strategy or brand storytelling
- 2Demonstrated exceptional writing skills and ability to synthesize information into clear persuasive content
- 3Strong interviewing and listening skills with the ability to connect with diverse individuals
- 4Self-directed with sound judgment balancing timelines, stakeholder needs, and brand standards
- 5Strong editing skills and familiarity with AP stylebook
- 6Experience with content development from concept through final review and implementation
- 7Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Office365 or equivalent, with ability to learn other software
- 8Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment with flexibility and enthusiasm
- 9Fluency in English and another language commonly spoken in Minnesota is a plus
- 10Commitment to mission-driven work and alignment with organizational values
