What You'll Do9
- 1Inspect returned and warranty bikes, documenting serial numbers, condition, missing parts, and damage for clear disposition.
- 2Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic issues using photos, videos, and dealer reports to recommend repair or escalation.
- 3Repair and replace components including drivetrains, hydraulic brakes, wheels, bearings, and electronic shifting systems.
- 4Perform final safety checks, firmware updates, and test rides to ensure bikes meet presentation-ready standards.
- 5Refurbish and recondition bikes for resale or demo use, touching up decals, grips, and hardware with attention to detail.
- 6Assemble and prepare demo and event bikes for trade shows, media activities, and employee use, handling transport logistics.
- 7Pick, pack, and ship warranty and service parts daily, verifying part numbers and model compatibility for accuracy.
- 8Maintain service records, photos, and inventory data in company systems, escalating recurring issues to quality teams.
- 9Keep the service workspace organized, follow torque specs and safety practices, and handle lithium batteries properly.
Requirements10
- 13+ years of professional bicycle mechanic experience in a high-volume shop, manufacturer, or warranty environment.
- 2Proficiency with hydraulic disc brakes, drivetrain setup, wheel service, and torque-controlled assembly.
- 3Experience with electronic shifting systems and e-bike diagnostics.
- 4Skill in evaluating bicycle damage and making safety-first repair decisions.
- 5High attention to detail in both mechanical work and cosmetic presentation.
- 6Ability to prioritize multiple bikes independently and move work from intake through final inspection.
- 7Capability to identify components, locate parts, and complete pick-pack-ship tasks in a warehouse.
- 8Comfort with remote troubleshooting using written info, photos, and videos.
- 9Clear written and verbal communication to document findings with concise notes.
- 10Valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with occasional travel between Downey and Santa Monica.
