Barista, Specialty Coffee & Customer Service
Overview
You will own the barista station at Canal Coffee Co., serving 30-50 customers per shift with precision and warmth. You'll join a tight-knit crew of 5-7 baristas, reporting to the shift lead. This role offers paid training and clear advancement tracks into shift lead or store manager positions.
What You'll Do8
- 1Greet every customer within 30 seconds and take orders accurately on the POS system
- 2Pull espresso shots and steam milk to spec for lattes, cappuccinos, and macchiatos
- 3Keep the workstation stocked and clean, rotating coffee beans and pastry stock
- 4Handle cash and card payments, balance the cash drawer at shift end
- 5Learn the full drink menu during the first 2 weeks, including seasonal specials
- 6Support teammates during rushes by restocking cups, lids, and syrups
- 7Follow health and safety protocols for food handling and equipment use
- 8Open or close the store, including setting up the espresso machine and locking up
Requirements7
- 1No prior barista experience required, but 6+ months in customer service is a plus
- 2High school diploma or equivalent
- 3Must be available to work weekends and holidays
- 4Ability to stand for 8-hour shifts and lift 25+ pounds
- 5Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory counts
- 6Must be 18+ to operate the espresso machine and handle cash
- 7Positive attitude and willingness to learn from the training program
