Backend Development Engineer, Infrastructure Platform
Overview
You will build ByteDance's global infrastructure digital platform, developing backend systems for procurement, delivery, planning, asset management, and IDC operations. Your code powers resource delivery at massive scale, serving millions of users across TikTok and Douyin. You'll join the Infrastructure Delivery Platform Team, a central group within the Systems Department, collaborating with engineers and product managers across San Jose and global offices. This role offers hands-on ownership of critical services, direct impact on operational efficiency, and a path to grow with one of the world's leading tech companies.
What You'll Do7
- 1Design and develop backend services for the infrastructure platform, handling capacity delivery, asset tracking, and server fleet management using Java or Go.
- 2Build end-to-end features for procurement and cost management systems, ensuring real-time data accuracy and scalability.
- 3Collaborate with product managers and operations teams to translate requirements into technical solutions, conducting feasibility studies and prototyping.
- 4Write clean, testable code with unit tests, participating in code reviews and technical design discussions.
- 5Debug and resolve production issues promptly, implementing monitoring and alerting to maintain high availability.
- 6Optimize database performance using MySQL and Redis, ensuring low-latency access for critical operations.
- 7Ship incremental improvements to the platform's API layer, improving developer experience and system reliability.
Requirements7
- 1Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, completed or expected by 2027.
- 2Solid coding skills in at least one language: Java, Go, C/C++, with strong data structures and algorithms foundation.
- 3Proficiency in Linux and understanding of TCP/UDP and HTTP protocols.
- 4Experience using MySQL and Redis, with ability to optimize queries and data models.
- 5Familiarity with source code of mainstream frameworks like Spring or Netty is a plus.
- 6Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work in a global team.
- 7Proactive mindset and strong sense of responsibility, with quick learning ability.
