Overview
Own the backend services that power HelloGov's AI-driven platform for government services, handling sensitive transactions for passports, visas, and registrations. Build and scale real-time communication systems and API integrations using TypeScript, NestJS, and GraphQL. Collaborate with the Engineering Lead and Front-End team to deliver seamless user experiences. This role drives the technical backbone of a gov-tech startup where Twilio integrations and PostgreSQL design are critical. Ship production-ready features from design to deployment in a collaborative Miami office.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and maintain backend services using TypeScript and NestJS.
- 2Design and develop GraphQL and REST APIs following engineering standards.
- 3Implement real-time features with Socket.io and WebSockets.
- 4Integrate Twilio services, including Voice, TaskRouter, and Sync.
- 5Collaborate with Front-End Engineers using Next.js for seamless features.
- 6Design efficient database models and queries with PostgreSQL.
- 7Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to improve reliability.
- 8Write clean, tested code and participate in code reviews.
- 9Work with Product, QA, and Engineering to deliver features on schedule.
- 10Own assigned work from ticket through production deployment.
Requirements13
- 13+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
- 2Strong proficiency in TypeScript and NestJS or similar frameworks.
- 3Solid understanding of backend performance and scalable system design.
- 4Proven ability to design and build GraphQL and REST APIs.
- 5Strong understanding of PostgreSQL and relational database design.
- 6Knowledge of real-time technologies like Socket.io or WebSockets.
- 7Familiarity with AI-powered applications and LLM integrations.
- 8Ability to integrate third-party APIs into scalable backend systems.
- 9Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- 10Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- 11Experience with Twilio services (Voice, TaskRouter, Sync, Studio, or Flex).
- 12Knowledge of Docker, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
- 13Familiarity with Redis or other caching solutions.
