Overview
You will own the tag and title process for a high-volume dealership group, ensuring every vehicle transaction is registered, titled, and compliant with state regulations. Working within a tight-knit accounting team of 5-10 clerks, you will reconcile schedules daily and resolve discrepancies before they become compliance issues. This role is for someone who thrives on precision and can maintain accuracy while processing 100+ tags per week. - 1Process all new and used vehicle tag applications within 24-48 hours of sale, using Reynolds and state DMV portals.
- 2Reconcile tag and title schedules against sold vehicle logs, flagging missing documents for immediate follow-up.
- 3Communicate with dealership sales and finance teams to collect missing signatures or fees before DMV deadlines.
- 4Audit title paperwork for errors and resubmit rejected applications within 48 hours.
- 5Coordinate with lienholders to ensure accurate payoff and title release processing.
- 6Track title deliveries and notify customers of registration status updates.
- 7Prepare monthly tax and fee reports for accounting review.
- 8Monitor changes to state titling regulations and update internal checklists.
Requirements8
- 11+ years of automotive tag and title processing or equivalent DMV experience.
- 2Active Notary Public commission or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
- 3Hands-on experience with Reynolds or similar dealer management system.
- 4Ability to handle 50+ titles per day with minimal errors.
- 5Strong knowledge of DC and Maryland titling laws.
- 6High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in accounting is a plus.
- 7Must pass a background check including motor vehicle record review.
- 8At least 18 years of age.
