Associate Specialist Engineering, Vaccine Manufacturing
Overview
You will own deviation investigations for live virus vaccine production at Merck's West Point site, leading root cause analysis and corrective actions across bulk production and final formulation. As a member of the Technical Operations Deviation Management team, you will collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and automation to resolve issues and improve processes. This role offers exposure to end-to-end vaccine manufacturing and the chance to develop deep technical expertise in live virus vaccine operations. You will drive measurable improvements in compliance and production reliability from day one, with opportunities for cross-functional impact.
What You'll Do6
- 1Lead manufacturing investigations for deviations in live virus vaccine production, identifying root cause and recommending corrective actions.
- 2Examine issues from multiple perspectives including safety, compliance, automation, equipment, process, and people to resolve root causes.
- 3Apply standardized work, engineering, and project management tools consistently across investigations.
- 4Provide real-time technical support to manufacturing shop floor for problem resolution.
- 5Design and conduct experimental protocols using Technical Operations lab facilities or production equipment at full scale.
- 6Author and update technical and manufacturing documents for investigations, process design, engineering studies, process demonstrations, change control, and validation.
Requirements6
- 1B.S. degree in Engineering or Sciences.
- 2Demonstrated ability to drive results in a manufacturing or technical environment.
- 3Strong communication, collaboration, and accountability skills.
- 4Problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- 5Preferred: vaccine manufacturing or sterile processing experience.
- 6Preferred: experience authoring investigations and deviation reports.
Salary Insight
$72 - $113k per year
