Overview
Lead a busy kids' salon as a working Assistant Manager and Hair Stylist. You will cut hair and manage daily operations, ensuring smooth customer flow and a positive team culture. The role combines hands-on styling with leadership duties, supporting stylists and front desk staff. You will handle routine customer concerns and escalate bigger issues to ownership, keeping the salon professional and efficient. Unlike typical management roles, you won't handle hiring, firing, or payroll, but you will mentor newer team members and maintain salon standards. This position offers stable pay plus tips and commissions, with closed major holidays.
What You'll Do10
- 1Cut hair for children and families, delivering quality service in a fast-paced environment.
- 2Manage appointment scheduling and customer flow to minimize wait times.
- 3Support stylists and front-desk staff during peak hours, stepping in as needed.
- 4Resolve routine customer concerns promptly; escalate major issues to management.
- 5Reinforce salon policies and ensure team compliance with standards.
- 6Delegate opening, closing, and cleaning tasks, and verify completion.
- 7Track inventory levels and delegate restocking duties as required.
- 8Communicate staffing shortages or call-offs to the General Manager.
- 9Train new team members on salon procedures and expectations.
- 10Keep the salon organized and child-friendly for families.
Requirements10
- 1Active Michigan Cosmetology or Barber License required.
- 22+ years of professional haircutting experience, especially with children.
- 3Leadership or supervisory experience preferred, with ability to guide a team.
- 4Strong communication skills to direct staff and interact with families.
- 5Dependable and responsible, with reliable attendance and punctuality.
- 6Comfortable addressing performance issues directly and professionally.
- 7Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset, promoting workplace harmony.
- 8Ability to stay calm and composed during busy periods.
- 9Genuine enjoyment working with children and families.
- 10Demonstrated reliability in following salon standards and protocols.
Salary Insight
