Assistant International Faculty and Scholar Advisor
Overview
The assistant international faculty and scholar advisor provides expert guidance on J-1 Exchange Visitor matters and ensures institutional compliance for international faculty scholars. This role supports campus partners and visiting scholars while maintaining accurate program information and processing immigration documentation.
What You'll Do15
- 1Manage and monitor the general inbox with professionalism and timely follow-through
- 2Provide clear information on complex immigration processes to diverse audiences
- 3Assist with orientations and workshops translating immigration regulations into accessible information
- 4Identify and recommend updates to web content regarding international faculty processes
- 5Serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer for the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program
- 6Prepare and distribute DS-2019 forms with precision and regulatory attention
- 7Review immigration documentation for completeness and compliance
- 8Maintain SEVIS records according to U.S. Department of State regulations
- 9Stay current with evolving immigration policies and contribute to team expertise
- 10Collaborate with ISSS leadership to interpret complex regulations
- 11Transform administrative interactions into relationship-building opportunities
- 12Champion ISSS and Texas Global priorities through active participation
- 13Foster belonging by supporting programs connecting international students and scholars
- 14Contribute to innovation via staff meetings and working groups
- 15Support and staff programs linking international students with the broader university community
Requirements11
- 1Bachelor's degree and one year of related international or higher education experience
- 2Demonstrated analytical skills for interpreting complex regulations
- 3Exceptional written communication with attention to detail
