Assistant Bakery Manager, Retail & Fresh Baking
Overview
You will own daily bakery operations at a Sprouts Farmers Market, leading a team of Bakery Clerks to deliver fresh bread, cookies, and muffins baked from proven recipes. You will manage ordering, inventory, merchandising, and food safety, ensuring every customer leaves with a smile. This role combines hands-on baking with team leadership in a fast-paced retail environment, reporting directly to the Bakery Manager. You will also collaborate with store leadership to hit sales targets and maintain Sprouts' high standards.
What You'll Do8
- 1Lead the bakery team in producing fresh goods, using Scales and Wrappers to weigh and package each item accurately.
- 2Drive daily operations, including ordering, inventory control, and rotation of merchandise to maximize product freshness.
- 3Train and supervise Bakery Clerks, ensuring they follow all company Health and Safety guidelines, including proper handling of Knives and Pallet Jacks.
- 4Unload store deliveries, sort incoming cases, and check for damaged items to maintain quality standards.
- 5Execute visual merchandising by building displays that highlight our Organic and Gluten-Free offerings.
- 6Answer phones and take special orders for custom cakes and catering, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- 7Maintain a spotless work area by cleaning tables, floors, and equipment, following Weights and Measures regulations.
- 8Handle peak-hour rushes by delegating tasks and keeping the team focused on speed and accuracy.
Requirements8
- 12+ years retail grocery experience and 2+ years supervisory experience.
- 2Age 18+ with a valid Food Handlers Permit.
- 3Ability to stand for 8+ hours per shift and lift up to 40 lbs..
- 4Skilled in using Scales, Wrappers, and Knives for product preparation.
- 5Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- 6Strong communication skills to lead a team and serve customers.
- 7Knowledge of Weights and Measures regulations for accurate labeling.
- 8Reliable transportation to work onsite in Phoenix, Arizona.
