Aging Specialist, Community Outreach NYC Aging
Overview
You own direct engagement with older adults, caregivers, and service providers through NYC Aging's Contact Center, resolving concerns and linking callers to vital resources. You join the Aging Connect unit within the Bureau of External Affairs, collaborating with a team of specialists and reporting to the Director. You document every interaction in the CTS system, ensuring accurate tracking and timely follow-up. At community events and resource fairs, you represent NYC Aging, delivering presentations to external partners across all five boroughs. This role blends frontline service with community education, offering a direct path to impact public agency outreach.
What You'll Do6
- 1Answer inbound calls and emails from community members seeking information on aging services, resolving concerns and providing referrals to appropriate resources.
- 2Log each contact in the CTS system with precise details, confirming that every case receives a response within agency timelines.
- 3Represent NYC Aging at community events, resource fairs, and tabling opportunities, delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
- 4Facilitate internal and external training sessions, preparing materials and delivering content to align partners with program procedures.
- 5Coordinate with the Director of Aging Connect to identify service gaps and propose improvements to outreach strategies.
- 6Document recurring issues from community interactions and escalate patterns to leadership for systemic resolution.
Requirements7
- 12+ years of community work or community-centered activities with a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 21+ years of direct community outreach or engagement experience, including phone and email communication.
- 3Experience using CTS or similar correspondence tracking systems to document interactions and manage case workflows.
- 4Proven ability to deliver presentations to groups of 10+ people, adapting content for varied audiences.
- 5Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
- 6Familiarity with NYC Aging programs and services, or similar social services for older adults.
- 7Ability to travel across New York City boroughs for off-site events and tabling assignments.
