Aerospace Quality Engineer, FAI & AS9100
Overview
You will own supplier manufacturing capability evaluations and full life-cycle part quality plans for aerospace programs. AS9100 and FAI protocols anchor your daily work. You will work with a supplier-focused team across design, production, and inventory control. This role demands hands-on mechanical and electronic assembly knowledge with RCCA and CAPA expertise. You will drive corrective actions and process standardization for major defense contracts.
What You'll Do10
- 1Baseline supplier manufacturing processes against AS9100 and commodity checklists.
- 2Develop part quality evaluation plans from material request through receipt.
- 3Disposition non-conforming materials and verify corrective actions.
- 4Evaluate inspection and test processes for mechanical and electronic assemblies.
- 5Participate in QMS audits to correct process deficiencies.
- 6Apply FMEA and SPC to improve product and process quality.
- 7Perform FAI per AS9102 for aircraft parts and materials.
- 8Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T for conformity inspections.
- 9Collaborate with design, production, and inventory control teams on quality issues.
- 10Drive RCCA and CAPA for systemic supplier quality problems.

- 13-5 years applying LEAN manufacturing methods.
- 23-5 years in quality engineering with FMEA, SPC, RCCA, and process control.
- 32-3 years with ISO9100 and AS9100 QMS processes in production and quality.
- 42-3 years inspecting aircraft parts and materials for conformity.
- 53-5 years performing FAI per AS9102 protocol.
- 63-5 years with inspection methods, techniques, and protocols.
- 73-5 years applying mechanical engineering processes, drawing conventions (ANSI 14.5), and GD&T.
- 83-5 years applying electronic assembly inspection standards (IPC-610, J-Std-1000) and reading schematics.
- 9Airframe and AVMS electronic experience required.
- 10US citizenship required.
- 11Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
- 12In lieu of a degree, 6+ years hands-on quality engineering in aerospace manufacturing.
- 13High school diploma or GED.
- 14Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
