Overview

You will own acoustic validation for Ford's automotive software, bridging physical acoustics and automation. You will test audio processing algorithms and ensure high-fidelity sound in the cabin, working with C++ and Python. You will join the Automotive Software Engineering team, collaborating with DSP engineers and systems teams. This role blends hands-on lab work with framework development, letting you shape test automation from the ground up. You will drive tuning with suppliers and in-house teams, directly impacting vehicle sound quality.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Perform hands-on acoustic measurements on automotive software and infotainment platforms, using HATS and calibrated microphones.
  • 2Lead vehicle tuning with suppliers or in-house teams to optimize in-cabin sound, voice clarity, and audio quality.
  • 3Execute and document OEM-specific test procedures, ensuring software performance and acoustic metrics meet standards.
  • 4Set up, calibrate, and operate lab equipment including DSOs, signal generators, and audio analyzers.
  • 5Build and maintain an autonomous acoustic test framework using C++ and Python to verify algorithm accuracy and monitor signal drift.
  • 6Analyze acoustic parameters such as Frequency Response, SPL, THD, SNR, and TCLw to assess performance.
  • 7Validate hardware-software interaction across microphones, speakers, and ECUs for audio features.
  • 8Collaborate with developers and DSP engineers to debug issues, isolate regressions, and root-cause acoustic anomalies.

Requirements8

  • 1Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Acoustics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related field.
  • 23+ years in audio or electronics lab, operating DSOs, signal generators, and audio analyzers.
  • 33+ years programming in C++ or Python for test automation and data analysis.
  • 4Hands-on experience with HATS and test head mannequins for acoustic measurement.
  • 5Experience with voice microphone and speaker validation, including ECU interfaces.
  • 6Proven ability to design automated acoustic test setups to monitor signal accuracy and prevent drift.
  • 7Experience in vehicle audio tuning and knowledge of ITU-T P.1100, P.1110, and P.1120 standards.
  • 8Familiarity with automotive networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, A2B) and voice data networks (4G/5G, VoLTE).
