Overview
PARAPROFESSIONAL TIER 1 – SPECIAL EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS PROVIDED BY NORTH KANSAS CITY SCHOOLS IN KANSAS CITY MISSOURI THIS ROLE FOCUSES ON SUPPORTING TEACHERS AND STUDENTS WITHIN THE BUILDING.
What You'll Do16
- 1Perform tasks that support teacher-led instruction and student learning
- 2Administer and record achievement and diagnostic tests recommended by teachers
- 3Assist with special strategies for individual student needs
- 4Operate classroom equipment and help students master instructional materials
- 5Distribute and collect academic materials
- 6Guide independent study and enrichment activities
- 7Supervise students during drills assemblies and field trips
- 8Maintain bulletin boards and classroom displays
- 9Participate in large group activities like reading aloud and storytelling
- 10Read to students and engage in oral communication
- 11Assist in library or media center operations
- 12Check attendance and supervise testing and make-up work
- 13Help with clothing appropriate for students
- 14Serve as substitute teacher when needed
- 15Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality
- 16Perform clerical duties such as filing and typing
Requirements10
- 1Minimum thirty-six college hours from accredited institution
- 2Pass Missouri Paraprofessional test or complete Missouri 20-hour Online Substitute Training Program
- 3Sixty college hours preferred
- 4Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate preferred
- 5Knowledge skills abilities and physical attributes for essential functions
- 6Reasonable accommodations may be provided

- 9Close moderate and distance vision abilities
