Waterjet Operator, CNC Cutting & Programming
Overview
You own the waterjet cutting process for military prototype hardware, running programs on steel and aluminum of varied thicknesses. You work with a small team in a Detroit shop, handling setups, maintenance, and recordkeeping. This role stands out by offering consistent dayshift hours and the chance to grow into blueprint reading and programming.
What You'll Do7
- 1Set up and run waterjet programs to cut steel and aluminum parts to spec.
- 2Perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues during operation.
- 3Read blueprints and adjust cuts to meet tolerances, with optional programming tasks.
- 4Track materials and record job data, including leftover steel and aluminum.
- 5Maintain a clean, safe work area, following shop safety protocols.
- 6Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines on prototype runs.
- 7Inspect finished parts for quality and report any deviations.
Requirements7
- 12+ years operating a waterjet or similar CNC cutting machine.
- 2Hands-on experience with cutting steel and aluminum sheets.
- 3Knowledge of machine setup, tooling, and basic maintenance.
- 4Ability to read blueprints and interpret dimensions.
- 5Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping skills.
- 6Willingness to work dayshift, 40-55 hours per week.
- 7Experience with CAD/CAM or programming is a plus.
