Venue Manager, Escape Room Operations
Overview
You will own the daily operation of an Escapology escape room venue, leading a team of 10-15 staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences and drive revenue. You will coach employees, manage scheduling, and oversee inventory and facility maintenance. This role blends hands-on hospitality with operational leadership in a dynamic, puzzle-driven environment. What You'll Do24
- 1Lead daily venue operations, maintaining company standards for guest service, safety, cleanliness, and staffing.
- 2Open and close the venue independently, following security, cash-handling, and safety procedures.
- 3Schedule 10-15 employees, ensuring shift coverage and covering call-outs or open shifts as needed.
- 4Recruit, interview, and hire employees in coordination with HR and the Area Manager.
- 5Conduct new-hire training and verify employees can perform their roles independently after training.
- 6Coach and develop employees through regular feedback and reinforcement of company expectations.
- 7Address performance and conduct issues, applying disciplinary action with HR and Area Manager approval.
- 8Attend weekly manager meetings and complete assigned follow-up items.
- 9Review and approve timecards and PTO requests within deadlines.
- 10Manage labor performance, monitoring scheduled vs. actual hours and adjusting staffing.
- 11Communicate operational priorities, policy updates, and room changes to the team.
- 12Book, coordinate, and oversee private events, ensuring smooth execution.
- 13Track sales, customer counts, comps, giveaways, gift certificates, waste, overtime, and product costs.
- 14Reset games after play and use M3 software to provide hints to guests during gameplay.
- 15Mix and serve non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, maintaining a fun atmosphere.
- 16Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and service recovery within approved authority.
- 17Monitor and respond to online reviews, coaching the team to request feedback.
- 18Manage venue emails, phone calls, bookings, and event payments.
- 19Drive revenue by promoting additional games, merchandise, and event offerings.
- 20Represent the venue at marketing and community events.
- 21Maintain inventory levels for beverages, merchandise, and supplies within budget.
- 22Enforce cleaning and inspection schedules to keep the facility safe and guest-ready.
- 23Perform routine maintenance and basic prop repairs, documenting completed work.
- 24Troubleshoot operational and technical issues, escalating to IT or the Area Manager when needed.
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2TIPS certification required; training may be provided.
- 321+ years old with reliable transportation.
- 4Flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- 5Pass a background check and/or CORI screening.
- 6Confident in public speaking and group interactions.
- 7Capable of multitasking and managing high-pressure situations.
- 8Ability to work independently and complete tasks proactively.
- 9Strong teamwork, oral and written communication skills.
- 10Proficient in project management and organization.
