Technical Lead, Backend & AWS Platform Engineering
Overview
Own the technical architecture for backend platform services, application integrations, and data pipelines at Brooksource, serving enterprise clients in Charlotte, NC. Lead a hybrid team of senior engineers, data engineers, and product managers to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable systems. You will set technical direction, drive design decisions, and remain hands-on with Python, AWS, and Terraform to ensure operational excellence and long-term platform health. What You'll Do8
- 1Own and evolve the technical architecture for platform services, integrations, and data pipelines with AWS and Kafka.
- 2Define reference architectures, integration patterns, and platform standards for API design and event-driven systems.
- 3Lead technical design reviews and ensure solutions align with scalability, reliability, and security principles using FastAPI and AWS Lambda.
- 4Contribute production-quality code alongside the team using Python, FastAPI, and AWS services.
- 5Guide data ingestion and transformation with AWS DMS, AWS Glue, and PySpark for batch and streaming pipelines.
- 6Provide technical leadership for Terraform-based infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipeline standards.
- 7Participate in on-call rotation, lead incident response, and drive post-incident root cause analysis and improvements.
- 8Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through design guidance, code reviews, and technical coaching to raise engineering quality.
Requirements7
- 18+ years of experience in backend, platform, or distributed systems engineering.
- 2Prior experience acting as a technical lead or architecture owner.
- 3Strong proficiency in Python and cloud-native backend development with AWS.
- 4Deep experience with AWS services and distributed architectures, including Lambda, ECS Fargate, Aurora, and DynamoDB.
- 5Hands-on experience with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
- 6Experience supporting production systems with on-call responsibilities.
- 7Strong understanding of streaming and batch integration patterns with Kafka and AWS Glue.
