Overview

The Tax Manager will own federal, state, and local tax compliance, planning, and reporting at scale for a growing organization. Lead SALT, sales and use tax, payroll tax, and property tax activities and partner with Finance leadership on strategy. This hybrid role is based in SE Portland with 40% onsite, reporting to the VP of Finance. Drive process improvements and cross-functional collaboration to support acquisitions and market expansion.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Build and manage federal, state, and local tax compliance, filings, and reporting to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • 2Lead SALT and Sales & Use Tax efforts, property tax, payroll tax, and other business tax activities with cross-functional teams
  • 3Prepare and review tax provisions, reconciliations, journal entries, and disclosures for external reporting
  • 4Partner with Finance on tax planning strategies and risk mitigation to support growth
  • 5Manage tax audits, regulatory inquiries, and relationships with external advisors
  • 6Monitor changes in tax laws and advise leadership on business impact and opportunities
  • 7Improve tax processes, internal controls, and reporting efficiency across tax functions
  • 8Support growth initiatives, acquisitions, and new market expansion with tax diligence and post-close integration
  • 9Maintain solid understanding of US GAAP and tax accounting principles to ensure alignment with financial statements
  • 10Provide mentoring and leadership to junior staff and coordinate with global tax teams as needed

Requirements6

  • 15+ years of corporate and/or public tax experience
  • 2Strong SALT and Sales & Use Tax expertise
  • 3Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field
  • 4Solid understanding of US GAAP and tax accounting principles
  • 5Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • 6Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
