Staff Software Engineer (C++, Qt/QML) at Abbott
Overview
You will own software architecture for Abbott's Electrophysiology Division, shipping diagnostic and interventional cardiology devices. Build embedded Linux applications and GUIs using C++, Qt/QML, and OpenGL. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, RA, and hardware engineers. What You'll Do8
- 1Design and develop embedded software for cardiology devices using C++ and Linux.
- 2Implement and test GUI applications with Qt/QML and OpenGL texture mapping.
- 3Own software requirements and architecture, translating them into production-ready code.
- 4Drive code reviews and ensure compliance with medical device quality systems.
- 5Debug and optimize real-time rendering pipelines using OpenGL Shader Language.
- 6Mentor junior engineers and lead technical design decisions.
- 7Collaborate with hardware and test teams to integrate software with device hardware.
- 8Document designs and transfer them to manufacturing for mass production.
Requirements10
- 110+ years of software engineering design experience.
- 22-3 years providing technical leadership and mentorship.
- 3Expertise in Object-Oriented Design with modern C++.
- 4GUI development experience with Qt/QML.
- 5Strong OpenGL or CUDA stream programming experience.
- 6Solid understanding of OpenGL 2D/3D texture mapping techniques.
- 7Experience with Linux operating systems and full product life-cycle development.
- 8Excellent documentation skills in a regulated environment.
- 9Experience in medical device development and familiarity with IEC60601-1 and IEC62304 preferred.
- 10Development tools: MS Visual Studio, Jira, Perforce.
