Staff Site Reliability Engineer Zoox
Overview
Zoox is building fully autonomous vehicles for robotaxi service and needs a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to own source control. This hands-on lead role sets the direction for a Git-based monorepo and drives migration to GitHub Cloud. The ideal candidate builds developer workflows and leads technical decisions.
What You'll Do5
- 1Own the technical strategy and roadmap for source control — GitHub Enterprise today, GitHub Cloud tomorrow — and write the core code that makes it real
- 2Plan and execute a full migration from GitHub Enterprise to GitHub Cloud including scoping design implementation cutover and validation
- 3Build and operate monorepo scalability improvements across repo structure branch strategy code ownership large-file handling and CI integration
- 4Develop guardrails and developer-facing tooling that reduce toil for SRE and product engineering measured by build times merge friction and interrupt volume
- 5Set the technical bar through code reviews design proposals and pairing while serving as the hands-on authority for source control decisions
Requirements6
- 15+ years operating GitHub Enterprise or equivalent at scale with hands-on experience scaling a large monorepo for an organization of several hundred or more engineers
- 2Strong CI/CD integration background using Buildkite GitHub Actions Jenkins or GitLab CI across code review workflows build triggers and branch policies
- 3Experience with infrastructure as code Terraform Pulumi or equivalent and major cloud platforms
- 4Direct experience migrating from GitHub Enterprise Server to GitHub Cloud
- 5Familiarity with monorepo build tooling Bazel Buck or similar and supply-chain hardening practices signed commits dependency governance and secret scanning
- 6Experience with code review tooling layered on top of GitHub such as Reviewable or Gerrit
