Overview
Special Education Teacher will own assessment, IEP design, and progress tracking for a caseload of students in a Kansas City partner school district. They will collaborate with parents and school staff to ensure each student's educational plan meets their unique needs. The role sits within Kelly Pediatric Therapy's school-based division, backed by Clinical Directors and Team Leaders for mentorship. Unlike typical contract roles, this position offers W-2 employment with benefits, plus access to the School-Based Academy and a Lending Library of assessment tools. What You'll Do8
- 1Assess children's skills and learning requirements using tools from the Lending Library and other evaluation materials.
- 2Design Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) with measurable goals aligned to each student's needs.
- 3Collaborate with parents and school staff to monitor student progress and adjust plans as needed.
- 4Document evaluation results, progress notes, and IEP updates within required timelines.
- 5Consult with Clinical Directors and Team Leaders to refine assessment and instructional strategies.
- 6Attend IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team decisions on student placements and services.
- 7Use the School-Based Academy resources to strengthen skills in educational settings during the first 90 days.
- 8Manage a caseload of students, balancing evaluation-focused tasks with ongoing support duties.
Requirements7
- 1Hold or be eligible for a Missouri Teaching Certificate in special education.
- 21+ years experience in school-based settings or related pediatric therapy environments.
- 32+ years conducting educational assessments and writing IEPs.
- 41+ years collaborating with parents, teachers, and administrators on student progress.
- 5Familiarity with federal and state regulations, including IDEA.
- 6Strong organizational skills to manage documentation for multiple students.
- 7Active teaching license in Missouri or ability to obtain one before start date.
